Local REALTORS® mentor at-risk youth
Phil Moore, Tom Everitt, Alice Wu, and John Patricelli are serious about inspiring at-risk youth to make positive choices in their lives. Since 2016, these Realtors from Metro Vancouver have supported Camp Choice BC, whose purpose is to empower youth with a five-day camp experience in August. It gives kids who are going through challenging life situations a chance to get creative, play, make new friends, have fun, and just be a kid.
In November 2018, Moore, Patricelli, Wu, and Everitt helped raise over $32,000 through ticket sales and an auction at the Annual Camp Choice for Kids Benefit Gala. They’re also coaches at the camp.
“The exercises and lectures are designed around courses used in company training seminars, personal development classes, and leadership,” said Realtor and Camp Choice coach Phil Moore. “They get a chance to work on focus, trust, and commitment to go beyond what they believe they think they can do. It creates a lasting memory of success in their lives.”
In addition to raising money and attending the camp as coaches, Phil Moore and John Patricelli visit weekly with the youth at the East Vancouver Boys Club. Here they continue the discussion about healthy decision-making. “The coaching is tough, but it’s worth it,” said Moore. “Connecting with young people is important because it keeps them on the right path.”
